Duffy<\/a>, the Welsh singer who was abducted, held captive for weeks, and raped, leading to her retreat from the public eye, will give her account of the harrowing ordeal in a new Hulu Original documentary for Disney+<\/a>. Six years after opening up about the experience in a pair<\/a> of notes<\/a> published in 2020, she has partnered with production company Rare TV to tell her story on-camera for the first time. No title or air date have been set.<\/p>\n The documentary\u2019s director, Gill Callan, said in a press release, \u201cDuffy\u2019s life has been shaped by success and fame, but equally by pain, defiance, and an irrepressible sense of self. I\u2019m drawn to the tension between vulnerability and confidence in her story and how a person can be deeply affected by their experiences, yet still find a powerful, expressive voice that is unmistakably hers.\u201d<\/p>\n The film will provide a retrospective of Duffy\u2019s life, from her Welsh upbringing to her arrival on the world stage with 2008 album Rockferry and its hit singles \u201cMercy\u201d and \u201cWarwick Avenue.\u201d After posting the story of her kidnapping, she shared her first new songs in half a decade, \u201cRiver in the Sky<\/a>\u201d and \u201cSomething Beautiful,\u201d in mid 2020.
