Adrian Lam is confident that Leigh Leopards will be able to announce a new deal for Gareth O\u2019Brien in the not too distant future.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien has been one of Leigh\u2019s leading lights this season, starring in the halves alongside Lachlan Lam and helping the club up to within touching distance of the top two with seven games remaining.<\/p>\n

However, he is yet to sign a new deal for next year despite being in talks over his future for some time. Lam is keen to see him stay, of course, and he believes clarity on O\u2019Brien\u2019s future is now just around the corner.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re pretty close, Gaz is one of my favourites,\u201d Lam told Serious About RL when asked about the half-back\u2019s future. \u201cHe\u2019s such a composed player and also a leader.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think within our key meetings we have he delivers really important messages to players, but also on the field, he\u2019s pretty close to perfect on how we want him to play.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been a big part of how we\u2019ve developed as a team this year. He\u2019s been at full-back, he\u2019s been in the halves over the last 12 months, and the way he\u2019s changed back in has been outstanding. I\u2019m a fan of Gaz O\u2019Brien\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leigh Leopards boss on Brad Dwyer<\/p>\n

Brad Dwyer is another player off contract at Leigh<\/a> this season and while the hooker was heavily involved at the start of the season, he hasn\u2019t pulled on the leopard print jersey since May.<\/p>\n

Dwyer penned a two-year contract with the Leopards in April last year and he\u2019s made 38 appearances since. Unless something changes between now and the end of the year, though, this season will be his last at Leigh.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s not contracted for next season at this point in time, but he has been in our 19 every week for the last six weeks, I think,\u201d Lam said on Dwyer\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s still in the picture and obviously if he gets an opportunity, I\u2019m sure he\u2019ll do a really good job for us.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been patient in waiting for that time to come. He\u2019s off-contract at the end of the year as we speak.\u201d<\/p>\n
