Haldimand\u2014Norfolk MP Leslyn Lewis is voicing support for proposed federal legislation aimed at protecting access to natural health products for residents of Haldimand, Norfolk, and communities all across Canada.<\/p>\n

Speaking recently in the House of Commons, Lewis backed Bill C-224, a private member\u2019s bill introduced by Blaine Calkins.<\/p>\n

The bill seeks to reverse changes made in 2023 to the Food and Drugs Act that applied stricter, pharmaceutical-style regulations to products such as vitamins, herbal remedies, and medicinal teas.<\/p>\n

Those changes introduced new fees, labelling requirements, and compliance measures, which Lewis argues could drive up costs and limit availability.<\/p>\n

She says the issue has struck a chord locally, with many residents in Haldimand\u2014Norfolk reaching out to her office to express concerns.<\/p>\n

She argues that limiting access to alternative health options could further strain both individuals and the system as a whole.<\/p>\n
