Samsung is reportedly planning a pretty big shakeup for next year\u2019s lineup of flagship smartphones, including a move to replace the typical \u2018Plus\u2019 model with a follow-up to the Galaxy S25 Edge. Now, we\u2019re learning just how slim the Galaxy S26 Edge might get \u2014 and how much of a battery upgrade might come with it.<\/p>\n
According to leaker Ice Universe<\/a>, Samsung\u2019s found a way to shrink that slim chassis down while still including a beefier battery. Next year\u2019s Galaxy S26 Edge will apparently measure in at just 5.5mm thick \u2014 down from 5.8mm on this year\u2019s release. That\u2019s not coming at the expense of a bigger battery though; according to this leak, the S26 Edge will get a healthy boost up to 4,200mAh. That\u2019s not a massive leap forward compared to the 3,900mAh cell in this year\u2019s phone, and much more comparable to the 4,300mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Flip 7.<\/p>\n Galaxy S26 Edge 5.5mm 4200mAh<\/p>\n \u2014 PhoneArt (@UniverseIce) August 6, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear if that\u2019s a large enough jump for Samsung to be utilizing silicon-carbon batteries<\/a>, despite earlier reports from Ice Universe that the Edge would jump to \u201cnew battery material technology.\u201d<\/a> Considering it\u2019s the second time in as many weeks<\/a> as that 4,200mAh spec has appeared, however, it\u2019s starting to sound like a done deal. Meanwhile, that 5.5mm frame should present itself as a little more impressive as this year\u2019s Edge, matching rumors for Apple\u2019s iPhone 17 \u201cAir.\u201d Both, unfortunately, still fall short compared to Motorola\u2019s Moto Z from nearly a decade ago.<\/p>\n In addition to dropping the S26+ in favor of an Edge follow-up, Samsung\u2019s rumored to be replacing the standard Galaxy S26 with something called the \u201cGalaxy S26 Pro.\u201d<\/a> It\u2019s unclear how that device will differentiate itself from new Edge and Ultra entries \u2014 or if it\u2019s just a simple rebranding of the base model \u2014 but considering just how many S26 leaks are starting to bubble to the surface months from an eventual launch, we shouldn\u2019t have to wait too much longer to find out.<\/p>\n More on Samsung: <\/p>\n FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links.
