{"id":497382,"date":"2026-03-27T01:17:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-27T01:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/497382\/"},"modified":"2026-03-27T01:17:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T01:17:12","slug":"police-reopen-investigation-into-andrew-tate-sex-abuse-allegations-uk-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/497382\/","title":{"rendered":"Police reopen investigation into Andrew Tate sex abuse allegations | UK News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police have reopened an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse against Andrew Tate.<\/p>\n<p>Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed it will reinvestigate alleged rape and sexual assault offences reported to the force between 2014 and 2015.<\/p>\n<p>It comes a day after the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said it was <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/police-watchdog-investigating-handling-of-andrew-tate-sex-abuse-allegations-13523825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">investigating how the force dealt with the allegations after the case was closed in 2019<\/a>, following a four-year probe.<\/p>\n<p>It said it was investigating a former detective constable, who could face gross misconduct proceedings for &#8220;alleged failures to properly investigate&#8221;, and two former detective sergeants who supervised the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Then on Thursday the force confirmed the allegations were being re-examined.<\/p>\n<p>          <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"sdc-article-image__item\" loading=\"lazy\" intrinsicsize=\"768x432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/skynews-andrew-tate-romania_7060419.jpg\"   alt=\"Andrew Tate in Bucharest in 2024 Pic: AP Photo\/Vadim Ghirda\" data-testid=\"article-image-image\"\/><\/p>\n<p>        Image:<br \/>\n        Andrew Tate in Bucharest in 2024 Pic: AP Photo\/Vadim Ghirda<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman said: &#8220;We are committed to doing what is right and ensuring that allegations of such a serious nature are properly, thoroughly and fully investigated, no matter how long ago they occurred.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The reports were made by three women who allege the professional kickboxer used sexual violence against them.<\/p>\n<p>In September last year, the CPS re-examined the claims and said the legal test to bring criminal charges had not been met.<\/p>\n<p>Read more:<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/transgender-women-athletes-banned-from-female-olympic-events-13524510\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Transgender women athletes banned<\/a><br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/labourer-who-killed-mother-of-two-and-buried-her-in-shallow-grave-jailed-for-18-years-13524540\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Labourer who killed mum-of-two jailed<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Previously, Tate&#8217;s lawyers vehemently denied the claims made against him, saying the allegations are &#8220;false&#8221; and that the alleged victims &#8220;were not controlled and did not behave as though they were controlled&#8221; by him.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to Sky News after police confirmed the re-opening of the investigation, his representatives highlighted that the CPS twice determined there was not enough evidence to bring charges.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Ford, of law firm Holborn Adams, said: &#8220;The decision to revisit the same allegations again, in the absence of any new and credible evidence, raises serious and legitimate concerns about the integrity of the process.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It creates the unavoidable perception that Mr Tate is being subjected to repeated investigation not on the basis of law or evidence, but because of who he is.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mr Tate categorically denies all allegations.
