Damson Idris<\/a> fans will be waking up to good news this Friday, as his new Netflix show has prompted some to throw his name in the hat to be James Bond<\/a>.<\/p>\n The streamer shared a snap of the 34-year-old F1 Movie<\/a> actor in a black suit and tie, holding a personally embossed script for the new show The Lords\u2019 Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n The TV series will be an adaptation of House of Cards<\/a> writer Michael Dobbs\u2019 political thriller and see Damson as star and executive producer, stepping into the shoes of British spy Harry Jones.<\/p>\n He finds himself at the state opening of Parliament<\/a>, where he\u2019s suddenly trapped inside the prestigious political building as part of a lockdown.<\/p>\n The surrounding siege begins to escalate, resulting in a \u2018desperate fight for survival\u2019, as Netflix put it in their official announcement for the \u2018fast-paced action thriller\u2019.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tGet personalised updates on all things Netflix\t\t\t<\/p>\n Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro\u2019s TV Newsletter.<\/p>\n Sign up to our newsletter<\/a> and then select your show in the link we\u2019ll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you.<\/p>\n The announcement teased: \u2018Loyalties are tested, sacrifices are made. Can he use his skills to save his country?\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t The six-part show will come from the same production company that makes Doctor Who<\/a>, with production underway this spring.<\/p>\n But the announcement has left TV fans thinking Idris might be the perfect actor for another much more high-profile British spy.<\/p>\n Underneath Netflix\u2019s post on Instagram<\/a> with the news, one fan simply wrote: \u2018Damson should\u2019ve been the next Bond.\u2019 Of course, we don\u2019t yet know who the next Bond is, so we can\u2019t even be sure it isn\u2019t him. Corey gets it, commenting: \u2018James Bond<\/a> next !!!!\u2019<\/p>\n According to Ladbrokes, Idris is in contention to replace Daniel Craig as 007, although currently at 14 to 1 odds.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tJames Bond favourite odds\t\t\t<\/p>\n Masters of the Air star Callum Turner is still the favourite to replace Daniel Craig, according to Ladbrokes.<\/p>\n Callum Turner \u2013 4\/5<\/p>\n Jacob Elordi \u2013 9\/4<\/p>\n Aaron Taylor-Johnson \u2013 11\/2<\/p>\n Harris Dickinson \u2013 8\/1<\/p>\n Theo\u00a0James\u00a0\u2013 9\/1<\/p>\n Henry Cavill \u2013 12\/1<\/p>\n Damson Idris \u2013 14\/1<\/p>\n Jonathan Bailey \u2013 16\/1<\/p>\n Jack Lowden \u2013 16\/1<\/p>\n James Norton \u2013 16\/1<\/p>\n Anthony Boyle\u00a0 \u2013 18\/1\u00a0<\/p>\n The show is set to have a real pedigree of spy shows, with screenwriting duo Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley on board as lead writers, having worked extensively on BBC<\/a> spy hit Spooks.<\/p>\n \t\t Continuing the theme, The Capture creator<\/a> Ben Chanan will helm the directorial duties for The Lords\u2019 Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n Idris\u2019s career has been on the up and up ever since his breakout role in Snowfall<\/a>, playing a 20-year-old drug kingpin amidst the crack epidemic of the 1980s in Los Angeles<\/a>.<\/p>\n Snowfall \u2013 which is available to stream in its entirety on BBC iPlayer \u2013 aired for six seasons until the final episode was released in April 2023, with a spin-off also said to be in the works (of course).<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the guessing game for the next Bond name is as ferocious as ever.<\/p>\n Most recently, Riz Ahmed has thrown his name into the hat in the best way possible<\/a>.
