{"id":499005,"date":"2026-03-27T22:13:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-27T22:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/499005\/"},"modified":"2026-03-27T22:13:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T22:13:08","slug":"jurgen-klopp-believes-mohamed-salah-will-be-irreplaceable-for-liverpool-mohamed-salah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/499005\/","title":{"rendered":"J\u00fcrgen Klopp believes Mohamed Salah will be irreplaceable for Liverpool | Mohamed Salah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">J\u00fcrgen Klopp has described Mohamed Salah\u2019s Liverpool career as \u201ca beautiful movie with a happy end\u201d and claimed the forward\u2019s phenomenal output will be impossible to replace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Klopp was in charge when Liverpool signed Salah for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/football\/2017\/jun\/22\/liverpool-transfer-deal-mohamed-salah-roma\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">initial \u00a334m from Roma in June 2017<\/a> and, despite the occasional row, remains close to the 33-year-old. The pair exchanged messages on Tuesday after Salah <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/football\/2026\/mar\/24\/mohamed-salah-to-leave-liverpool-at-end-of-the-season\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season<\/a>, 12 months before his contract is due to expire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Egypt international is third on Liverpool\u2019s all-time scorers\u2019 list with 255 goals to date and Klopp, back on Merseyside for a series of charity events in support of LFC Foundation, insists there is no like-for-like replacement for Salah in the game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThis specific kind of player is irreplaceable,\u201d said the 58-year-old, now head of global football at Red Bull. \u201cI\u2019m not sure there is even another one existing out there. There are other people playing on that wing with different strengths and qualities but it is the numbers Mo produces \u2013 they are unmatched from that position. The numbers for a winger are ridiculous. For a striker they are pretty much unmatched. So, if it is impossible, why should you try?<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cI\u2019m not in the role to advise \u00adanyone, but just bring players in and play the kind of football which can be successful. We lost Sadio Man\u00e9. What a player he was. Bobby [Roberto] Firmino, oh my God. On the day Gini [Georginio Wijnaldum] went, probably none of you thought: \u2018That\u2019s a big miss,\u2019 until he was not there any more and then you thought: \u201cOh! He was the combination of technique, power and tactical discipline.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThen Hendo [Jordan Henderson] left, Milly [James Milner] went, but other players came in. That\u2019s how it is. Don\u2019t try to chase the shadows. Find a new way and play.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Klopp is an honorary ambassador for LFC Foundation, the club\u2019s official charity that aims to tackle social inequality, and will be part of the management team for a Liverpool legends versus Borussia Dortmund legends \u00adfundraiser at Anfield on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The German admits Salah was not the easiest player to handle but said: \u201cI can sum it up: I am really happy and proud that I was part of the whole journey.<\/p>\n<p>J\u00fcrgen Klopp brought Mohamed Salah to Liverpool in June 2017 and oversaw his development into one of the greatest forwards of the modern era. We both know that we had these arguments, not big arguments. Like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/football\/2024\/apr\/28\/liverpool-arne-slot-selling-petulant-mo-salah-this-summer\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the one at West Ham<\/a>, both of us, five seconds later, would have thought: \u2018No, don\u2019t do that in \u00adpublic, come on, rewind.\u2019 Next morning it was already over, but it happens in public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cWe never lost respect for each other and that is what I really like. He didn\u2019t like me for a second when I took him off after 87 minutes and you think: \u2018Why?\u2019 The time with him and Sadio together, they were a challenge, of course they were. Special players are a challenge. Tell me one who is not?<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cNow it\u2019s time, not for Liverpudlians obviously because there is still a lot to go for, but for me it\u2019s a bit different and I can reflect. And what a time that was, and what a player he is. We kind of took it for granted but this team was ridiculous.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThat\u2019s the thing in these moments \u2013 time stops for a second. And that means you watch the movie again. My big target was always that when I am old and grey I can look back and smile, and that is definitely the case. The Mo movie is a beautiful movie and to make it interesting you have to have a few edges in.
