{"id":499093,"date":"2026-03-27T23:19:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-27T23:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/499093\/"},"modified":"2026-03-27T23:19:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T23:19:10","slug":"leeds-rhinos-brad-arthur-named-among-front-runners-for-nrl-gig-after-shock-sacking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/499093\/","title":{"rendered":"Leeds Rhinos&#8217; Brad Arthur named among front-runners for NRL gig after shock sacking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/AW6_3762.jpg\" class=\"attachment- size- wp-post-image\" alt=\"Leeds Rhinos\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Off-contract Leeds Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur has been named among the front-runners for a vacant NRL job after an early-season firing.<\/p>\n<p>Super League saw their first coaching casualty after round five when Luke Robinson was sacked by Huddersfield Giants but the NRL saw an even earlier axing, with Manly Sea Eagles getting rid of Anthony Seibold.<\/p>\n<p>Seibold was understood to have been under pressure with Hull KR boss <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seriousaboutrl.com\/rugby-league-news-willie-peters-to-nrl-noise-grows-with-hull-kr-man-seen-as-next-cab-off-the-rank-113564\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Willie Peters recently linked to the job by James Graham<\/a>, however, it\u2019s now being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seriousaboutrl.com\/willie-peters-agent-lifts-lid-on-png-chiefs-job-and-hull-kr-bosss-thought-process-113877\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported that Peters will take on the role as PNG Chiefs head coach<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n<p>Manly\u2019s 0-3 start to the season resulted in Seibold\u2019s dismissal and the talk has already turned to who will replace him, with Leeds Rhinos boss Brad Arthur named among the likely candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Arthur only signed a new deal last year, however, it was only a one-year deal and having seemingly missed out on the PNG role, it\u2019s been suggested that he could be near the top of Manly\u2019s wish list.<\/p>\n<p>Luke Robinson sacked, Hull KR struggling and why it could actually be Warrington Wolves\u2019 year? \u2013\u00a0<a class=\"in-cell-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ry6l3OSIG0M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">click here to watch the latest episode of the Serious About Rugby League Show<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Leeds Rhinos boss \u2018in the mix\u2019 for Manly job<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Telegraph\u2019s Brent Read was the man to name Arthur as a candidate when speaking on Fox League, with the Leeds Rhinos boss among several to be named.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrad Arthur is a guy who just missed out on the PNG job. He\u2019ll be in the thick of it,\u201d claimed Read.<\/p>\n<p>Others to be mentioned included Matt Ballin and Michael Ennis, with Read explaining: \u201cBallin is another guy in contention and as I understand, has the support of the old boys at the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMick Ennis, a former assistant at Manly, is someone who has made no secret of his aspirations to be a head coach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re the three guys right now who I would say are in the mix for the job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Arthur has made no secret of his desire to return to the NRL at some point but it\u2019s unclear if he would be willing to make a mid-season switch.
