Wakefield Trinity continued their winning run as they saw off York Knights in round six of Super League.<\/p>\n

Daryl Powell\u2019s side ran in five tries to win 26-14 with two late tries stretching the scoreboard wider than what perhaps reflected the game.<\/p>\n

York were dominant for large periods of the match but simply failed to find the points from their heavy possession with the win for Wakefield seeing them march into the top four.<\/p>\n

York Knights v Wakefield Trinity talking points<\/p>\n

York lack cutting edge<\/p>\n

The Knights have scored plenty of points this year but tonight was not one of those occasions with their attack simply failing to fire despite the incredible territory that they had.<\/p>\n

They\u2019d start the game with the ball for four straight minutes but couldn\u2019t capitalise and that was foreshadowing for the remainder of the game, with the Knights dominating territory but simply not able to convert possession to points.<\/p>\n

By the 22nd minute, they\u2019d racked up 75% possession and forced Trinity into 112 tackles but they only led 6-0. It was notable that their late points came whilst they were at a man advantage.<\/p>\n

Sam Wood impact and full-back injury<\/p>\n

There are plenty of candidates already for signing of the season but Sam Wood from Castleford to York has to be in contention with the centre looking close to his best.<\/p>\n

His try in the first half was well-taken and it was notable that Trinity didn\u2019t have much success on their right edge where Wood was defending.<\/p>\n

One thing that will cause concern for York fans is that he went off late with what appeared to be a finger dislocation and he wasn\u2019t the only one, with full-back Toa Mata\u2019afa suffering an elbow injury ten minutes from time with a suspected dislocated elbow in yet another major blow to a full-back.<\/p>\n

Oliver Pratt<\/p>\n

Whilst York\u2019s ailing attack was crucial to Wakefield getting the win, more significant was the contribution of Oliver Pratt in the minute or so before half-time.<\/p>\n

Ex-Wakefield man Josh Griffin kicked over the top and it was Pratt who came to collect before just managing to get out of his in-goal area, something that Wakefield proved via Captain\u2019s Challenge.<\/p>\n

The ensuing set then saw Trinity march down the field with Pratt scoring in the corner in a major points swing that ultimately won Wakefield the game. His try in the final two minutes was just an added bonus on an already impressive performance.<\/p>\n

Jowitt sin bin<\/p>\n

York Knights thought they\u2019d got back in it through Will Dagger with Tom Grant awarding the try on-field, however, video referee Chris Kendall overruled that.<\/p>\n

Kendall ruled that full-back Max Jowitt kicked Dagger\u2019s hand before the York man could claim possession, ruling out the chances of a penalty try but ensuring that Jowitt could be penalised for foul play.<\/p>\n

To Jowitt\u2019s disgust, he was then sent to the sin bin with both he and captain Mike McMeeken protesting that Jowitt kicked the ball before Will Dagger made contact with it. Regardless, Tom Grant wasn\u2019t set to change his mind meaning Jowitt went for ten at a crucial phase of the game. Thankfully for Trin, it did not prove costly.<\/p>\n
