{"id":49995,"date":"2025-08-07T09:19:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T09:19:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/49995\/"},"modified":"2025-08-07T09:19:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T09:19:11","slug":"richie-mounga-signs-new-deal-with-new-zealand-rugby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/49995\/","title":{"rendered":"Richie Mo&#8217;unga signs new deal with New Zealand Rugby"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>New Zealand Rugby have announced the signing of first five-eighth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/richie-mounga\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Richie Mo\u2019unga<\/a> on an 18-month deal that runs until the end of 2027.<\/p>\n<p>The major signing will see Mo\u2019unga return home to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/new-zealand\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Zealand<\/a> in July 2026 at the conclusion of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/japan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Japan<\/a> Rugby League One season after his third and final season with Toshiba Brave Lupus Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>Mo\u2019unga will be eligible to return to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/new-zealand\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">All Blacks<\/a> in October 2026, with his return to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/crusaders\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Crusaders<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/super-rugby\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Super Rugby Pacific<\/a> due in 2027 before the international season. He has returned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/canterbury\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canterbury<\/a> at provincial level.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/spacer-new.png\" alt=\"Video Spacer\" width=\"100%\"\/><\/p>\n<p>All Black legend Carlos Spencer on Rugby Champs for the women\u2019s game <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/spacer-new.png\" alt=\"Video Spacer\" width=\"100%\"\/>All Black legend Carlos Spencer on Rugby Champs for the women\u2019s game <\/p>\n<p>The seven-time Super Rugby champion will chase another title with the Crusaders in their new stadium in Christchurch in 2027, while he will chase a third <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/rugby-world-cup\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rugby World Cup<\/a> appearance with the All Blacks under Scott Robertson.<\/p>\n<p>The news was welcomed by NZR Chief <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/mark-robinson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Robinson<\/a>, Crusaders Chief Colin Mansbridge and Canterbury Rugby CEO Tony Smail with open arms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really pleased to have Richie re-committing to New Zealand Rugby, the Crusaders and Canterbury Rugby,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a proven talent with a strong track record of performing on the biggest stages.
