Simone Bolelli<\/a> and Andrea Vavassori<\/a> ended their wait for an ATP Masters 1000 trophy in style on Sunday afternoon at the Miami Open presented by Itau<\/a>. <\/p>\n The seventh-seeded duo overcame the in-form Harri Heliovaara<\/a> and Henry Patten<\/a> 6-4, 6-2 inside Hard Rock Stadium to clinch their biggest title as a team. We played a tricky first round, saved two match points, but I think we played better every match. Today we stepped on court with confidence. We played aggressive tennis and we are very happy with the result.\u201d <\/p>\n Since first becoming a regular partnership in 2024, Bolelli and Vavassori have formed one of the most consistent teams on Tour. They have won six ATP 500 crowns as a team and twice qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals<\/a>, but until Sunday they had not competed together in a Masters 1000 title match. <\/p>\n When that day finally came, the Italian duo did not disappoint. With fourth seeds Heliovaara and Patten struggling to find the form that had helped them reach the final without dropping a set, Bolelli and Vavassori were resilient on serve, saving all three break points they faced, while they converted three out of nine break points they earned, according to Infosys ATP Stats. <\/p>\n \u201cWe know them very well. They are an incredible team, for sure the team to beat,\u201d said Vavassori. \u201cThis year they won three titles already, and we lost to them many times in important matches. We started very well. The tactic to have an aggressive mindset, I think it paid off. Our energy, we really wanted this title\u2026 When Simone started with me, he told me, \u2018We have to win one Masters title, it\u2019s the only title I\u2019ve left behind\u2019. We did it, so I\u2019m very proud.\u201d <\/p>\n With Sunday\u2019s victory the 40-year-old Bolelli, who won a Grand Slam title at the 2015 Australian Open<\/a> with Fabio Fognini<\/a>, became the first Italian man to win 20 tour-level doubles titles in the Open Era (since 1968). <\/p>\n
