The \u2018Sunshine Double\u2019 refers to winning both the BNP Paribas Open<\/a> in Indian Wells and the Miami Open presented by Itau<\/a> in the same year. <\/p>\n

Seven different men have completed the Sunshine Double at least once: Jim Courier<\/a> (1991), Michael Chang<\/a> (1992), Pete Sampras<\/a> (1994), Marcelo Rios<\/a> (1998), Andre Agassi<\/a> (2001), Roger Federer<\/a> (2005-06) and Novak Djokovic<\/a> (2011, 2014-16). <\/p>\n

The record for completing the Sunshine Double the most times is held by Novak Djokovic<\/a>. The Serbian has achieved the feat four times: In 2011, and then in three consecutive years from 2014-16. The only other man to complete it more than once is Federer, who triumphed in Indian Wells and Miami in 2005-06 and 2017. <\/p>\n

Sinner is bidding to join Sabalenka as a Sunshine Double winner in 2026 after the WTA World No. 1 overcame Coco Gauff on Saturday in Miami. If Sinner defeats Lehecka to lift the trophy, it will mark the fourth time that an ATP player and a WTA player have completed the Sunshine Double in the same year. <\/p>\n

The first time it happened was in 1994, when Sampras and Steffi Graf each triumphed in Indian Wells and Miami.
