Sometimes, Brits\u00a0can be polite to a fault. We\u2019ll always say our please and thank yous, we\u2019ll always\u00a0let someone\u00a0else through the door first, we\u2019ll always form an orderly queue and\u00a0if someone trips us up on the pavement or smacks us in the face, we\u2019ll probably be the one to profusely apologise. British good manners are world-famous. And, in case you needed proof, a new survey has crowned\u00a0us the third politest nation on the planet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Financial services provider\u00a0Remitly<\/a>\u00a0did\u00a0some digging to uncover which countries are considered the\u00a0most well-mannered.\u00a0It asked\u00a04,600 people from 26 different nations\u00a0 about\u00a0their perception of their own politeness\u00a0and asked them to name\u00a0the\u00a0place that they\u00a0perceive to\u00a0have the politest population.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Just over six percent of the survey\u2019s respondents perceived the UK as the politest country in the world. The only two countries that had more votes were Canada, which was voted the politest by 13.5 percent of respondents, and Japan, which got an overwhelming 35.15 percent of the vote. Having good manners\u00a0is not quite the same as being friendly (the worst person you know could also be the politest), but there\u2019s certainly overlap. And in\u00a0Time Out\u2019s\u00a0most recent Best Cities survey, three British cities were voted among the most friendly in the world: Brighton<\/a>, Belfast<\/a> and Glasgow<\/a>.
