The quantum computer part sits at the bottom, where temperatures are colder than the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Boomerang_Nebula\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\" class=\"c-regularLink\">Boomerang Nebula<\/a>, the coldest natural place in the known universe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"u-speakableText-p2\">Most quantum computers need to be kept at temperatures less than 1 degree above absolute zero. That&#8217;s because the qubits these computers use for their computations,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/tech\/computing\/four-different-futures-for-quantum-computing-converge-at-nvidia-gtc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"c-shortcodeLink c-shortcodeLink-active\" target=\"_blank\">whether they&#8217;re physical atoms or engineered quantum circuits<\/a>, are extremely sensitive to outside forces, including heat.<\/p>\n<p>I spoke with a representative from <a href=\"https:\/\/bluefors.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\" class=\"c-regularLink\">Bluefors<\/a>, a company dedicated to making the large dilution refrigerators designed to remove heat from quantum systems.
