The death of an elderly woman following a house fire in Co Tyrone is \u201cabsolutely heartbreaking\u201d, an MLA said today.<\/p>\n
The PSNI said the woman, who was aged in her 70s, died following the blaze at a residential property in the Derrycush Park area of Aughnacloy on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n
Police were notified of the fire shortly after 6pm.<\/p>\n
They attended the scene alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n
Firefighters extinguished the blaze but it was confirmed the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing over the incident but said the death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.<\/p>\n
Sinn Fein MLA Colm Gildernew said it was \u201cabsolutely heartbreaking\u201d news.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to express my condolences to the family, friends and neighbours of this woman, who now face extremely difficult days and weeks ahead,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
