{"id":502815,"date":"2026-03-30T03:44:15","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T03:44:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/502815\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T03:44:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T03:44:15","slug":"the-sussex-village-named-one-of-the-best-places-to-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/502815\/","title":{"rendered":"The Sussex village named one of the best places to live"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  With over forty medieval and post medieval timber-framed houses, Lindfield <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theargus.co.uk\/news\/25947583.3-places-sussex-named-best-live-sunday-times\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">was praised by the judges of the Sunday Times\u2019 Best Places to Live Guide for its \u201cenviable period homes\u201d and \u201cbewitching\u201d duck pond<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>The duck pond (Image: Sussex News and Pictures)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Its \u201cbeauty\u201d, schools, shops, connections and amenities that would \u201csatisfy the most hard-headed house hunter\u201d earned it the accolade of best place to live in the South East.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  St Leonards and Petworth also made the top ten list for the South East.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cIt\u2019s just as perfect for more romantic souls, ready to be bewitched by the duck pond, the enviable period homes, the warm and welcoming community and the Sussex countryside,\u201d the publication\u2019s judges said of Lindfield.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>The village is rich in historic architecture (Image: Sussex News and Pictures)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe little high street is useful and aspirational, but the star of the show is the Lindfield Coffee Works, a buzzy roastery and caf\u00e9 that is always packed with locals of all ages. In the evenings, the crowds move to the Stand Up Inn for games of toad-in-the-hole, a traditional Sussex coin-tossing game.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The village\u2019s spring-fed pond is home to fish, ducks, visiting swans and the occasional heron, while the King Edward hall often hosts exhibitions and other events.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Lindfield (Image: Sussex News and Pictures)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Visit South East England says the village, which some 6,000 people call home, has &#8220;four ingredients traditionally required for an attractive Sussex village&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  These being a &#8220;historic church, picturesque High Street, tranquil pond graced by wildfowl and a large open common&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Lindfield (Image: Sussex News and Pictures)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The historic church in question, All Saints Church, dates back to the 11th century. Next to the church, the oldest building in the village is Church House, known as &#8220;The Tiger&#8221;.
