{"id":502821,"date":"2026-03-30T03:51:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T03:51:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/502821\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T03:51:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T03:51:07","slug":"canelo-called-out-by-terence-crawfords-trainer-to-fight-next-world-champion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/502821\/","title":{"rendered":"Canelo called out by Terence Crawford&#8217;s trainer to fight &#8216;next world champion&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/terence-crawford\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Terence Crawford<\/a> retired following a virtuoso performance against Canelo Alvarez in September, and now Crawford\u2019s trainer is hoping that he can secure a second win over Canelo, offering the Mexican a fight with \u2018Bud\u2019s stablemate.<\/p>\n<p>Brian \u2018BoMac\u2019 MacIntyre guided Crawford to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/boxing\/story\/_\/id\/46251831\/terence-crawford-tops-canelo-alvarez-historic-undisputed-crown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">a legendary triumph over Canelo<\/a> six months ago, as the Omaha-born sensation maintained his undefeated record and became the first three-division undisputed champion since Henry Armstrong in 1938.<\/p>\n<p>Canelo remains sidelined, plotting a <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/canelo-opponent-for-return\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">return to the division in September,<\/a> when he will presumably return in an instant world title shot \u2013 with newly-crowned WBC champion Christian Mbilli being the assumed target.<\/p>\n<p>Mbilli defeated Maciej Sulecki to claim the WBC Interim title last year and defended it in a brawl with Lester Martinez that was scored as a draw, before being elevated to full WBC world champion due to Crawford\u2019s retirement.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Martinez, a training partner of Crawford\u2019s, assumed position as the new interim champion when he returned to action this month, claiming the title and subsequent mandatory challenger position with a decision victory over Immanuwel Aleem.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FightHubTV\/status\/2035774312947306793?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">FightHype<\/a> after cornering the Guatemalan in that win, MacIntyre called for a rematch between Martinez and Mbilli for the full WBC crown and also suggested a potential showdown with Canelo Alvarez.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis s**t is beautiful, making world champions and going for the next motherf***ers that is in the weight class. You heard me, Mbilli, Canelo, and anybody else out there at 168lbs that want this s**t. Let\u2019s get it!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mbilli may fight before September as he seeks to defend his belt and prepare for a possible clash with Canelo.
