\n Member Elevated Eye Photography, who shared their pictures, said the unplanned pictures had come after they spotted the “sky on fire” while cooking and rushed out with their drone.\n<\/p>\n

What makes sunsets red?<\/p>\n
\n The Met Office explains that the colours we see in the sky are a result of Rayleigh scattering, with sunlight made of many colours, each with a different wavelength.\n<\/p>\n

\n “When sunlight enters Earth\u2019s atmosphere, it collides with tiny gas molecules – mainly nitrogen and oxygen,” the Met Office said.\n<\/p>\n

\n “These molecules are much smaller than the wavelength of visible light, so they scatter shorter wavelengths much more than longer wavelengths.”\n<\/p>\n

\n This effect not only causes us to see the sky as blue, but is also responsible for sunsets.\n<\/p>\n

\n The Met Office said blue and violet light, which is shorter in wavelength than red and orange, is scattered more than other colours as a result of its wavelength.\n<\/p>\n
