{"id":505360,"date":"2026-03-31T15:05:28","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T15:05:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/505360\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T15:05:28","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T15:05:28","slug":"recycling-in-cornwall-now-includes-new-items-collected-from-your-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/505360\/","title":{"rendered":"Recycling in Cornwall now includes new items collected from your home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The council has made two big changes to its fortnightly collections to include some of our most common trash<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"eager\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/0_il_recycling_lorry_Fore_Street_Probus_Cornwall_-_August_2023.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"A Cornwall Council recycling lorry \" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">A Cornwall Council recycling lorry (Image: Mutney via Wikimedia Commons)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">People living in Cornwall can now put a number of new items in their recycling bags &#8211; including sweet wrappers and crisp packets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">From March 16, <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cornwalllive.com\/all-about\/cornwall-council\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Cornwall Council<\/a> is allowing cartons and plastic wrapping to be added to households&#8217; fortnightly kerbside collections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">It&#8217;s a huge change from previous rules, which did not accept Tetra Paks and which saw soft plastics needing to be recycled via special collection points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The new rules mean you can now recycle plastic bags such as bread bags and frozen vegetable bags as well as cartons and Tetra Paks, including milk cartons, soup cartons and milk substitute cartons for things like oat and almond milk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Plastic carrier bags, sweet and chocolate wrappers, crisp packets and other foil lined packaging like coffee bags, cheese, fish and meat wrappings, plastic film lids and sleeves, cling film, bubble wrap, pet food pouches and fruit and vegetable net bags have also all been added to the list of things you can recycle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">If you are recycling cartons, the council advises you to rinse and squash them down before putting them in your red recycling bag for collection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Any plastic bags and wrapping should be put in a carrier or bread bag tied at the top.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">If you have space, pop it into your red recycling bag.
