{"id":507184,"date":"2026-04-01T14:05:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T14:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/507184\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T14:05:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T14:05:09","slug":"senior-open-championship-to-return-to-royal-porthcawl-in-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/507184\/","title":{"rendered":"Senior Open Championship to return to Royal Porthcawl in 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The ISPS HANDA Senior Open Championship is to be staged at Royal Porthcawl in 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The only senior major played in Europe will take place on the south Wales links for the fourth time after previous editions in 2014, 2017 and 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Royal Porthcawl, which successfully staged the AIG Women&#8217;s Open in 2024, will host the stars of men&#8217;s senior golf from July 22-25 next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Bernhard Langer won the 2014 and 2017 events at the course, with fellow German Alex Cejka beating Padraig Harrington to the title in 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;The golf course is rated by many as one of the best in the country and we look forward to seeing the legends of the game compete there once again,&#8221; said championship director Edward Kitson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The ISPS HANDA Senior Open Championship is to be staged at Royal Porthcawl in 2027.
