Britons have expressed their fears of the nation’s cost of living crisis “never ending”, as households have been hammered with an extra \u00a3216 in bills.<\/p>\n

Speaking to GB News National Reporter Sophie Reaper, locals in Leigh near Manchester declared the state of Britain’s economy “frightening”, questioning if they will be able to cope with the surging costs.<\/p>\n

Households across Britain are waking up to a wave of price rises today in what campaigners have labelled another “awful April”.<\/p>\n

Although energy costs are bucking the trend with a seven per cent reduction, families face significant increases elsewhere in their monthly outgoings.<\/p>\n

Council tax in England climbs by an average of 4.9 per cent, pushing the typical Band D bill to \u00a32,392 annually \u2013 a jump of \u00a3111.<\/p>\n

Water charges are also surging, with bills across England and Wales rising by an average of 5.4 per cent, adding roughly \u00a333 to annual costs.<\/p>\n

In an address to the nation today, Sir Keir Starmer warned that the impact of the Iran war will “affect the future” of Britain.<\/p>\n

In light of the bill increases, he said: “It is now clear that the impact of this war will affect the future of our country.<\/p>\n

“So today, I want to reassure the British people that no matter how fierce this storm, we are well placed to weather it, and that we have a long-term plan to emerge from it a stronger a more secure nation.”<\/p>\n

Delivering their verdict on “awful April”, one bill payer told GB News it is “really hard work” trying to keep on top of their finances.<\/p>\n

She said: “It’s hard work. It really is hard work trying to cope. And when all these young ones have got little babies and small children, it’s hard work for everybody. <\/p>\n

“It’s hard to people with pensions as well, but you just have to get on with it, don’t you?”<\/p>\n

Stressing the soaring cost of petrol due to the conflict in Iran, another local told GB News that she is “frightened” of the increased costs she is having to pay.<\/p>\n

She said: “It’s frightening, really. And the petrol prices as well, that’s another thing. <\/p>\n

“There’s no end to it really, and it doesn’t look like the war is going to finish.”<\/p>\n

Another Leigh resident admitted just when she “thinks things are getting better”, they “start to get worse again”.<\/p>\n

She told GB News: “You think it’s getting better and then it gets worse, there’s not much else you can do about it. <\/p>\n

One Briton offered a very blunt assessment of awful April and the state of Britain’s cost of living crisis.<\/p>\n
