A major incident was declared after a fire broke out at a care home in Blackpool.<\/p>\n
North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said it sent resources to the scene of the fire<\/a>, working alongside “other members of the emergency services”. Lancashire Constabulary said the care home was on Queen’s Promenade, LancsLive<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n Blackpool Police said on Facebook<\/a>: “At around 8:30pm this evening we were called to reports of a fire at a care home on Queen\u2019s Promenade, Blackpool. We are currently on scene with North West Ambulance Service NHS<\/a> Trust and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (Official). We ask that you please avoid the area, and allow emergency services to conduct their duties. Thank you for your patience.”<\/p>\n Police later said the major incident had been stood down. Two people were taken to hospital after a number of patients were assessed at the scene, police said.<\/p>\n Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said in an update at 10.50pm that the incident had been “reduced to one fire engine, alongside multiple appliances from our emergency services partners”.<\/p>\n The service said: “Earlier this evening, we had five fire engines and several vehicles from North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust and Lancashire Police in attendance at a commercial property fire on Queens Promenande, Blackpool.<\/p>\n “The incident has now been reduced to one fire engine, alongside multiple appliances from our emergency services partners. There is still a section of Queens Promenade closed and local road closures in place.” Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service also confirmed they do not believe the fire to be suspicious.<\/p>\n NWAS said in its post: “Following reports of a fire at a care home in Bispham, Blackpool the trust has dispatched resources to the scene.<\/p>\n “We are currently assessing the situation and working with other members of the emergency services. Avon and Somerset Police<\/a> were called at 1.47pm following the incident in the Speedwell area of Bristol.<\/p>\n The force confirmed that firearms officers attended the scene to support emergency services who were present. A man aged in his 20s was taken to hospital with a serious injury, which is described as potentially life-changing.<\/p>\n Police said the man responsible left in the direction of Soundwell on a black and grey electric bike. He is described as being white, aged in his late teens or early 20s, of slim build and about 6ft tall. The man was wearing a grey hoodie, black trousers and a balaclava.<\/p>\n Chief Inspector James Clements said: \u201cI know this incident will be incredibly concerning, however, we are deploying significant resources, including a National Police Air Service helicopter and our specially-trained firearms officers, as we work to locate the person responsible.<\/p>\n \u201cThe victim has been taken to hospital where he is being treated for an injury that\u2019s potentially life-changing, but not believed to be life-threatening.<\/p>\n \u201cHis family have been informed and will be kept updated as our investigation progresses.
