These firms are seeking joint ventures with Ugandan enterprises.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Rt. Hon Robinah Nabbanja, who\u202fwelcomed the trade delegation to Uganda on Tuesday, has\u00a0facilitated\u00a0the visit by organising\u00a0meetings with key government and private sector stakeholders.\u202fHer\u00a0commitment to advancing Uganda\u2019s international commercial partnerships has been central to making this visit possible and to signalling Uganda\u2019s readiness for deeper,\u00a0long-term\u00a0investment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u202fHon Robinah Nabbanja said:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Thank you for choosing to visit Uganda, for your interest in our growing market and for the engagement. These engagements must be well\u202fcoordinated and outcome-driven so we can effectively\u202fshowcase\u202fUganda\u2019s investment opportunities and match investors with credible Ugandan enterprises ready for partnership.\u202fI am confident\u202fthat this visit will further strengthen our\u202fcommercial ties with partners in the United\u202fKingdom.<\/p>\n<p>\u202fWorking closely with H.E. Nimisha Madhvani, the Ugandan and British High Commissions have jointly convened the UK and Indian delegations to deepen commercial links and support market\u2011opening efforts.<\/p>\n<p>On 18 February, the British Chamber of Commerce Uganda (BCCU) hosted a reception to help the delegations better understand the Ugandan market and connect with local businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Welcoming the group, the British High Commissioner to Uganda, H.E. Lisa Chesney MBE, highlighted the importance of the visit:<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">This delegation is a testament to the momentum building across Uganda\u2019s economy. British and Indian companies bring complementary strengths, deep\u202fexpertise, and a shared appetite for opportunity.\u202fWith a portfolio\u202fof investments\u202fthrough UKEF, BII, PIDG, and others already surpassing\u00a0\u00a31.3\u202fbillion, with an\u202fadditional\u202f\u00a31\u202fbillion in the pipeline, the UK is\u00a0powering the ATMS and the\u202ftenfold\u202fgrowth strategy through\u202flong-term, high-quality\u202finvestment.<\/p>\n<p>She encouraged more investment directly into productive sectors:\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">What we\u202f, the UK and our colleagues in the Government of Uganda,\u202fwant to see is British, Indian, and\u202fother\u202fcompanies looking beyond government\u202fdeals\u202fand infrastructure contracts toward\u202fbusiness-to-business\u202fopportunities in Uganda\u2019s\u202feconomy. Private\u202fsector investment is what will drive ten-fold growth, and the potential is enormous.<\/p>\n<p>The delegations\u2019\u00a0programme\u00a0in Uganda includes business-to-business engagements,\u202fsite visits, and policy roundtables designed to deepen commercial understanding,\u202fidentify\u202fmarket gaps,\u202fpartnerships,\u202fand support future joint ventures. Key areas of focus include green manufacturing,\u202fagro-processing, solar\u202ftechnologies,\u202flogistics, and skills development.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This approach aligns with the UK government\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/missions\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Plan for Change<\/a>\u202fand Africa Approach, which prioritises economic growth through partnership with businesses and catalysing private investment in productive sectors.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The visit supports Uganda\u2019s\u202fagro-industrialisation, tourism,\u202fmining and\u202fminerals and science\u202f, technology and innovation priorities\u202fand its ambition for ten-fold economic growth.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Further information<\/p>\n<p>The UK investment portfolio\u202fthrough <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/uk-export-finance\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UK Export Finance (UKEF)<\/a>, <a rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bii.co.uk\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">British International Investment (BII)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/international-development-funding\/private-infrastructure-development-group\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG)<\/a> and other\u202finvestments now exceeds\u00a0\u00a31.2 billion, with an\u202fadditional\u202f\u00a31 billion in the pipeline. These include\u202fa\u202frecently signed\u202f\u00a334 million Gridworks partnership with Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL), the first independently financed power transmission project in Africa, as well as\u202f\u00a3130.5 million in financing enabling Nexus Green to deploy 430 solar-powered irrigation systems nationwide, boosting climate-resilient agriculture.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/bccuganda.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">British Chamber of Commerce Uganda (BCCU)<\/a>\u202faims to strengthen UK\u2013Uganda trade and investment, acting as a collective voice to influence trade policy, reduce barriers to\u202ftrade, and support UK businesses of all sizes through networking, advocacy, and business support services. Launched in 2024 with backing from the British High Commission, the BCCU serves as a catalyst for economic growth by connecting businesses,\u202ffacilitating\u202ftrade promotion activities, and\u202fleveraging\u202fthe UK private sector\u2019s significant investment and\u202fexpertise\u202fin Uganda.\u202fIt currently has 58 member companies spanning 17 sectors, representing over 22,000 jobs in the Ugandan economy.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/waba.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Westminster Africa Business Association (WABA)<\/a>\u202fis an independent organisation dedicated to strengthening UK-Africa trade, investment, and sustainable development.
