\n\tJohn Travolta<\/a> is set to unveil his long gestated directorial debut, \u201cPropeller One-Way Night Coach\u201d at the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAn Apple Original film, \u201cPropeller One-Way Night Coach\u201d is an adaptation of Travolta\u2019s children book published in 1997. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe movie will bow in the non-competitive section, Cannes Premiere, at the Debussy Theater, ahead of its global debut on Apple TV on May 29. <\/p>\n

\n\tHis presence at the festival will bring some Hollywood star power in a quieter year for studios. The film\u2019s selection also underlines that major streamers \u2013 with the exceptions of Netflix \u2014 are willing to play by Cannes\u2019 rules and showcase movies out-of-competition if they\u2019re not planning a local theatrical release. <\/p>\n

\n\tTravolta\u2019s passion project will bring him back to the Croisette where he previously presented, as an actor, \u201cPulp Fiction\u201d in 1994, \u201cShe\u2019s So Lovely\u201d in 1997 and \u201cPrimary Colors\u201d in 1998. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe 72-year-old actor, whose eclectic filmography spans over 70 films, has had this project in mind for decades. <\/p>\n

\n\tCannes pointed in its release announcing the movie that Travolta was a seasoned professional pilot who had always been passionate about aviation. \u201cHe began flying at just 15 years old, obtained his first pilot\u2019s license at 22, and has since earned numerous certifications: John Travolta is certified to fly Boeing 707s, 737s, and 747s, Bombardier\u2019s Global Express and was the first private pilot to fly an Airbus A380 With over 9,000 flight hours under his belt, the actor has also owned several aircraft for many years and even flew planes in two movies,\u201d stated the festival. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPropeller One-Way Night Coach\u201d unfolds in the golden age of aviation as young airplane enthusiast jeff (Clark Shotwell) and his mother (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett) set off on a one-way cross country odyssey to Hollywood. \u201cBetween airline meals, charming fight attendants (Ella Bleu Travolta, Olga Hoffmann), unexpected stopovers, larger-than-life passengers, and a thrilling glimpse at first class, the journey unfolds in moments both magical and unexpected, charting the course for the boys future,\u201d the synopsis reads. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPropeller One-Way Night Coach\u201d is produced by John Travolta\u2019s JTP Films Inc, and Kids At Play. Travolta is producing with JTP Productions, in addition to Jason Berger and Amy Laslett of Kids at Play.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs previously announced, Pierre Salvadori<\/a>\u2019s ambitious period comedy \u201cLa V\u00e9nus \u00e9lectrique\u201d is set to premiere on opening night, on May 12. The festival will pay tribute to\u00a0Barbra Streisand<\/a>\u00a0and Peter Jackson who will each receive an honorary Palme d\u2019Or. Celebrated South Korean director, screenwriter and producer\u00a0Park Chan-wook<\/a>,\u00a0will preside over the jury. <\/p>\n
