Young Caja Rural-Seguros RGA talent Jaume Guarde\u00f1o<\/a> has been hospitalised with serious injuries following a training crash on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old Spaniard reportedly hit a rock in the road while descending before losing control of his bike and colliding with a car.<\/p>\n

AS<\/a> reported that Guarde\u00f1o, who was training in Centelles, north of Barcelona, was sedated and was in a serious condition following the crash. As of Thursday morning, however, his condition has stabilised.<\/p>\n

Caja Rural-Seguros RGA<\/a> issued a statement about Guarde\u00f1o on Thursday.<\/p>\n

“Our teammate Jaume Guarde\u00f1o suffered a fall last Tuesday while training, following his recent participation in the Volta a Catalunya. He was involved in a collision with a vehicle and sustained serious injuries,” the team announced.<\/p>\n

“As a result of the accident, the cyclist from Alicante, who resides in Caldes de Montbui, was airlifted to the Taul\u00ed Hospital in Sabadell, where he remains in the ICU with serious injuries and his condition is being closely monitored.<\/p>\n

“From Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, we want to express our full support and strength to Jaume and his family during this difficult time, wishing him a speedy and full recovery. We will provide further updates as his condition evolves.”<\/p>\n

Guarde\u00f1o has been with Spanish ProTeam Caja Rural since turning pro at the start of the 2024 season.<\/p>\n

He finished eighth at the Tour of Qinghai Lake and 11th at the Volta a Portugal during his neo-pro season and last year broke through with a 14th place at his Grand Tour debut, the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a<\/a>.<\/p>\n
