{"id":510242,"date":"2026-04-03T05:32:38","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T05:32:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/510242\/"},"modified":"2026-04-03T05:32:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T05:32:38","slug":"what-you-can-put-in-your-bins-ahead-of-collection-changes-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/510242\/","title":{"rendered":"What you can put in your bins ahead of collection changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  From June, Babergh, Mid Suffolk and East Suffolk councils will move from fortnightly to three-weekly waste collections, while introducing weekly food waste pick-ups for the first time.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Household waste bins will continue to be collected fortnightly for those living under West Suffolk Council.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  As part of the nationwide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eadt.co.uk\/news\/25076165.bin-changes-will-affect-people-suffolk\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Simpler Recycling reforms<\/a> required by the Government, residents will also receive a new wheelie bin to use alongside their existing ones.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Where space is limited, households may be given a smaller box or sack instead. In addition, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eadt.co.uk\/news\/25687772.bin-collections-will-change-across-suffolk-2026\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">every home will get a small indoor food caddy<\/a> and a larger outdoor container to store food waste for collection.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  To <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eadt.co.uk\/news\/25889137.need-know-new-suffolk-recycling-bin-scheme\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">help people prepare<\/a>, here\u2019s a guide to what can go in each bin once the new system begins in June.\n<\/p>\n<p>  Blue-lidded recycling bin<\/p>\n<p>Glass bottles and jars<\/p>\n<p>  Drinks cartons (Tetra Pak)<\/p>\n<p>  Bubble wrap<\/p>\n<p>  Carrier bags<\/p>\n<p>  Plastic wrappings (e.g. plastic around multipacks or tops of fruit punnets\/meat trays)<\/p>\n<p>  Empty food bags (e.g. cereal, pasta, mixed salad, frozen chips, frozen peas)<\/p>\n<p>  Plastic pots, tubs and food trays<\/p>\n<p>  Plastic bottles<\/p>\n<p>  Tin foil and foil food trays<\/p>\n<p>  Metal cans and empty aerosols<\/p>\n<p>  Green-lidded recycling bin<\/p>\n<p>Shredded paper<\/p>\n<p>  Cardboard<\/p>\n<p>  Letters, envelopes and other paper<\/p>\n<p>  Cardboard punnets and packaging<\/p>\n<p>  Cardboard egg boxes<\/p>\n<p>  Newspapers and magazines<\/p>\n<p>  Books (hardback and paperback)<\/p>\n<p>  Food waste caddy<\/p>\n<p>Leftovers<\/p>\n<p>  Fruit and vegetable peelings and cores<\/p>\n<p>  Egg shells and salad<\/p>\n<p>  Coffee grounds and teabags<\/p>\n<p>  Meat and fish (including bones), cooked and uncooked<\/p>\n<p>  Out-of-date or mouldy food<\/p>\n<p>  General rubbish bin<\/p>\n<p>\n  Use your rubbish bin for anything that doesn\u2019t go in your recycling bins or food waste caddy.
