Police remain at a cordon around St Anne’s Wood for the third day as searches continue in connection with a shooting incident in the Speedwell area of Bristol.<\/p>\n

Police dogs, forensic officers and search units were at the cordon in place at St. Anne’s Wood throughout Wednesday and Thursday [April 1 and 2] following the incident which saw Charlton Road and Speedwell Road cordoned off to all traffic.<\/p>\n

Officers from Avon and Somerset Constabulary were called at 1.47pm on April 1 to a report that a gun had been fired at a car in Speedwell Road in Speedwell. <\/a>Firearms officers attended to support emergency services at the scene where a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with a serious injury.<\/p>\n

Three schools – Chester Park Infant School, in Lodge Causeway, Two Mile Hill Primary School and Bristol Brunel Academy – all locked down during the incident.<\/a><\/p>\n

Chief Inspector James Clements of the Bristol Neighbourhood team spoke with reporters at the scene, stating: “One person was taken to hospital with an injury that’s believed to be life changing, but thankfully, not life threatening. His family has been informed and where we kept updated by detectives.”<\/p>\n

Three people were later arrested<\/a> – a man in his twenties was arrested just after 2.30am on April 2 on suspicion of attempted murder, and another man and a woman in their twenties were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.<\/p>\n

Police have said they were “not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident at this time.”<\/p>\n

A spokesperson told BristolLive that the woodlands was an “area of interest” in relation to the shooting, but have not given further details.<\/p>\n
