{"id":51298,"date":"2025-08-07T22:08:15","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T22:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/51298\/"},"modified":"2025-08-07T22:08:15","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T22:08:15","slug":"barbarians-to-make-venue-history-in-november-all-blacks-xv-fixture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/51298\/","title":{"rendered":"Barbarians to make venue history in November All Blacks XV fixture"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/barbarians\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barbarians<\/a> will face the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/new-zealand\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">All Blacks<\/a> XV in London this autumn, with the two sides set to meet at Brentford FC\u2019s Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, 1 November.<\/p>\n<p>The fixture will mark just the second meeting between the two teams, following a tightly contested 35-31 Barbarians win in 2022 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium; a match that also made history as the first rugby fixture played at the venue.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/all-blacks-xv\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">All Blacks XV<\/a> serve as a development side for New Zealand\u2019s Test setup and have recorded recent wins over Munster, Georgia, Japan, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/ireland\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ireland<\/a> A. Their northern hemisphere tour in 2023 included a 38-24 win in Limerick and a 31-13 victory in Montpellier.<\/p>\n<p>Barbarian FC President John Spencer said the upcoming fixture was in keeping with a longstanding tradition between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/teams\/new-zealand\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Zealand<\/a> sides and the invitational club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Barbarians and the All Blacks XV are two of the most iconic names in rugby,\u201d he said. \u201cFixtures between the Barbarians and New Zealand sides stretch back more than 70 years and include the game\u2019s \u2018greatest try\u2019 by Gareth Edwards in 1973.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand Rugby\u2019s Chris Lendrum said: \u201cThere\u2019s history between the Barbarians and the All Blacks XV, so we know this will be a competitive and exciting match for the fans and for the players.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>173 New Zealand players have worn the famous black and white Barbarians jersey down through the years, including All Blacks greats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/jonah-lomu\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jonah Lomu<\/a>, Ma\u2019a Nonu, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rugbypass.com\/players\/richie-mccaw\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Richie McCaw<\/a> and Sam Whitelock.<\/p>\n<p>The Barbarians have won their last three games in London.
