A recent instalment of Married At First Sight Australia has attracted over 100 complaints to Ofcom, marking it as amongst the most contentious episodes of the series.<\/p>\n
The dramatic scenes broadcast last week sparked heated discussion amongst viewers. UK audiences are presently enjoying the latest run of this unconventional Australian dating programme, where participants meet their partners for the first time at the altar before developing their relationship. The outcomes have been decidedly varied thus far.<\/p>\n
Recent weeks have seen more than a dozen couples exchange vows upon their initial meeting. One particular episode shown last week was anticipated to be emotionally charged viewing.<\/p>\n
This expectation stemmed from previews confirming that the late Mel Schilling would feature in one of her final appearances before her tragic passing. She was heard stating “some relationships may be destroyed after tonight”.<\/p>\n
It has now emerged that the programme has faced criticism following its transmission. Prior to transmission, E4 issued a dual warning, informing audiences: “This episode was filmed before the sad passing of Mel Schilling and it contains scenes of heated confrontation.”<\/p>\n The drama unfolded following Brook’s sensational return after abandoning her husband Chris. Despite leaving her spouse behind, she turned up to the dinner party, telling producers she had ‘unfinished business’, though she was adamant that reconciling with Chris played no part in her decision to come back.<\/p>\n She wasted no time in setting her sights on the other women. At one point, Brook rounded on Stella, declaring: “I don’t think you’re deep, I think you’re f***ing dumb.”<\/p>\n Disability worker Gia and model Brook spent the entirety of the dinner party launching a sustained assault on fellow brides Stella and Alissa. The pair told her to “go back in your kennel, babes,” and jeered at her to take her “stripper boots off”.<\/p>\n Brook’s conduct continued to deteriorate, leaving viewers at home struggling to stomach what they were witnessing. Appearing as guests, Alyssa and Stella became tearful upon witnessing Brook choosing to single them out.<\/p>\n Following the episode’s transmission, Brook and Gia have both posted extensive statements on social media addressing their behaviour.
