A photographic competition organised by the annual Tree Festival is under way, organised by the Sussex branch of the countryside charity CPRE.<\/p>\n
The winner last year was of a hawthorn by a dew pond at Ditchling Beacon, with shots of trees in Preston Park, Brighton, among the entires.<\/p>\n
The organisers said: \u201cCPRE Sussex is proud to launch their Tree Festival\u2019s photographic competition for its third year<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Tree Festival Photographic Competition \u2013 \u2018I Love This Tree Because \u2026\u2019 \u2013 invites people across Sussex to celebrate the trees they love through photography.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe competition is part of CPRE Sussex\u2019s annual Tree Festival which highlights the importance, beauty and diversity of trees across Sussex.<\/p>\n
\u201cOrganisers are looking for photographs that capture a meaningful moment with a tree \u2013 something that inspires, informs or simply makes people smile.<\/p>\n
\u201cEntries could show a dramatic landscape tree, a hidden woodland gem, a favourite climbing tree from childhood or the tree that brightens your daily walk.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether you are an experienced photographer or simply enjoy taking pictures on your phone, everyone is welcome to take part.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlongside a photograph, entrants are invited to complete the sentence \u2018I love this tree because \u2026\u2019 and share why the tree is special to them.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe competition celebrates the role trees play in our lives and landscapes while encouraging people to look more closely at the natural world around them.<\/p>\n
\u201cSussex is home to an extraordinary variety of trees \u2013 from ancient woodland giants to urban street trees \u2013 and this competition is a chance to showcase them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trustee and Tree Festival lead Penny Hudd said: \u201cWe are thrilled to be running the photo competition again and love to see the beautiful images of Sussex trees that people send.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo please do grab your camera, head outside and share the tree that makes you stop and look twice.<\/p>\n
\u201cSubmit a photograph of your favourite tree or trees in Sussex and tell us why you love it.\u201d<\/p>\n
