Clair Obscur: Expedition 33<\/a> actor Ben Starr believes Marathon<\/a> could win Game of the Year<\/a> \u2013 and it\u2019s all due to its inclusion of co-star Jennifer English in the Bungie shooter\u2019s all-star voice cast.<\/p>\n

GamesRadar<\/a> reports on a panel with the pair<\/a> at the Emerald City Comic Con 2026, where it\u2019s noted that Reddit has coined a phenomenon known as the \u2018Jennifer English Effect\u2019.<\/p>\n

To cut a long story short, English starred as Latenna the Albinauric in Elden Ring<\/a>, Shadowheart in Baldur\u2019s Gate 3<\/a>, and, of course, Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33<\/a> \u2013 three titles which all won Game of the Year recently.<\/p>\n

She wasn\u2019t in Astro Bot<\/a> so that does break the run somewhat, but it\u2019s pretty consistent all the same.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

English, seemingly unaware of her influence, remarked, \u201cThat\u2019s really nice!\u201d<\/p>\n

But Starr took it one step further and hurriedly chimed in: \u201cThat means Marathon is gonna be Game of the Year!\u201d<\/p>\n

To be fair, the Bungie shooter has been attracting some extremely positive review scores, and while it doesn\u2019t look like it\u2019s sold as well as parent company Sony may have expected, it does appear to have a passionate fan base.<\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019ll have the legs to win Game of the Year, though \u2013 we doubt it.<\/p>\n

Of course, English may have other opportunities: she\u2019s set to star as the lead character Gwendolyn in upcoming PS5 action game Tides of Annihilation<\/a>, and while it doesn\u2019t have a release date just yet, there\u2019s a slim chance it may make it out this year.<\/p>\n
