\n The East Cleveland Classic will take place on Sunday, April 12, starting and finishing in Saltburn, and is part of the British Cycling Open National Road Series.\n<\/p>\n
\n This year\u2019s races hold international significance and will feature both men\u2019s and women\u2019s events on a circuit that takes in Skelton, Guisborough, Charltons, Boosbeck, Lingdale, and Brotton.\n<\/p>\n
\n Carrie Richardson, deputy leader of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and cabinet member for climate and culture, said: “This is a wonderful sporting event, a chance to see truly elite sportsmen and women.\n<\/p>\n

\n “It\u2019s also a chance to have fun and show off the beauty of East Cleveland on television to cycling fans across the country and the world.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The women\u2019s race will begin at 9am and cover four laps of the circuit, totalling 68 miles.\n<\/p>\n
\n The men\u2019s race starts at 1.15pm and will span six laps, covering 100 miles.\n<\/p>\n
\n As the event passes through the region, a rolling road closure will be in place along the route.\n<\/p>\n
\n Roads will be temporarily closed to traffic by police escort vehicles for around 15 minutes while the cyclists pass through.\n<\/p>\n
\n In addition, Glenside will be closed to unauthorised vehicles from 6am on Sunday, April 12, between the junctions of Windsor Terrace and Albion Terrace.\n<\/p>\n
