Savannah Guthrie<\/a> is officially back on Today<\/a> as the search<\/a> for her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie<\/a>, continues.<\/p>\n

Savannah made her highly anticipated return to the NBC morning show on Monday, April 6. Savannah joined Craig Melvin<\/a> at the Studio 1A anchor desk for the first time since January 30.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood morning. Welcome to Today on this Monday morning. We are so glad you started your week with us. And it is good to be home,\u201d Savannah said at the top of the episode. Melvin added, \u201cYes. It is good to have you back at home. So good to have you back.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair, who proceeded to jump into the day\u2019s biggest news headlines, both sported yellow outfits. Amid Nancy\u2019s disappearance, the Today hosts have sported yellow clothing and yellow ribbon pins<\/a> to show their support for the Guthrie family. The Today set has also been decorated with yellow floral arrangements.<\/p>\n

Before beginning her \u201cMorning Boost\u201d segment, Jenna Bush Hager<\/a> reached over to Savannah while stating, \u201cWe don\u2019t even need a boost because we have our sunshine back!\u201d Bush Hager later walked Savannah out onto the 30 Rockefeller Plaza to greet fans for the first time since her absence.<\/p>\n

Savannah got teary-eyed while thanking fans for their support. \u201cThese signs are so beautiful. You guys have been so beautiful. I received so many letters, so much kindness, to me and my whole family. We feel it. We feel your prayers, so thank you so much.\u201d Carson Daly<\/a> noted, \u201cIt\u2019s not just today. They\u2019ve been out here every day with signs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two months ago, the February 2 episode<\/a> of Today began with the breaking news that Nancy had disappeared<\/a> from her Arizona home. She was last seen on January 31 and was reported missing the following day.<\/p>\n

The following day, NBC announced that Savannah would no longer travel<\/a> to Italy to cover the 2026 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony<\/a>. Melvin and Hoda Kotb<\/a> also dropped out of their respective Olympics coverage roles, while NBC Sports reporter Mary Carillo<\/a> took Savannah\u2019s place during the Opening Ceremony alongside co-hosts Terry Gannon<\/a> and Shaun White<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kotb \u2014 who previously exited<\/a> Today in January 2025 \u2014 served as Savannah\u2019s primary replacement amid her absence, while Sheinelle Jones<\/a> and Laura Jarrett<\/a> also filled in for the anchor. Both Kotb and Jones were absent from Today the entirety of last week. While Jones took time off to spend spring break<\/a> with her children, the reason for Kotb\u2019s absence was not revealed<\/a>. (Jarrett took over Kotb\u2019s hosting duties from Monday, March 30, through Friday, April 3.)<\/p>\n

The Guthrie family has been cleared<\/a> as suspects in the investigation, but authorities have yet to name any potential leads. Key pieces of evidence include blood<\/a> found on the front porch of Nancy\u2019s home and footage of a masked suspect<\/a> with a weapon captured on her home security cameras.<\/p>\n

In a February 24 Instagram video<\/a>, Savannah admitted that Nancy may already be \u201cgone\u201d and announced that her family is offering a reward of up to $1 million<\/a> in exchange for information about Nancy\u2019s whereabouts.<\/p>\n

Prior to her Today return, Savannah expressed her intention to return<\/a> to her anchor role while visiting the studio<\/a> in March. She also\u00a0sat down with Kotb for an emotional two-part interview on Today, during which she recalled her brother, Camron Guthrie, suggesting that Nancy was kidnapped for ransom<\/a>. \u201cI said, \u2018What?\u2019 I mean, it sounds like, how could dumb could I be? But I didn\u2019t want to believe it,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI said, \u2018Do you think because of me?\u2019 And he said, \u2018I\u2019m sorry, sweetie, but yeah, maybe.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Savannah continued, \u201cTo think that I brought this to her bedside, that it\u2019s because of me \u2014 and I just say, \u2018I\u2019m so sorry, Mommy. I\u2019m so sorry. I\u2019m sorry to my sister [Annie Guthrie] and my brother, and my kids and my nephew, and Tommy [Cioni], my brother-in-law.\u2019 I\u2019m just, like, so sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Savannah also admitted that it was \u201chard\u201d to imagine returning to Today<\/a> as the investigation remains open. \u201cI can\u2019t come back and try to be something that I\u2019m not. But I can\u2019t not come back because it\u2019s my family. I think it\u2019s part of my purpose right now,\u201d she told Kotb. \u201cI want to smile, and when I do, it will be real. And my joy will be my protest. My joy will be my answer, and being there is joyful. And when it\u2019s not, I\u2019ll say so.\u201d<\/p>\n
