talkSPORT presenter Sam Matterface has revealed the tragic news that his father died on Friday night.<\/p>\n
He was back in work on Monday and paid tribute to his father, claiming “he would’ve done the same” and added that “radio is a constant companion.” Matterface issued the heartbreaking statement at the start of his show with colleague Alex Crook.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cI\u2019m going to be honest and open with you right off the bat, I\u2019m not in a particularly good place this morning and I\u2019m going to share with you why. It\u2019s been a particularly tough weekend for me and my family because we lost my father on Friday night in sudden and rather shocking circumstances. So you\u2019re going to have to bare with me a little today and indulge me a little me for a minute.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m sure people will be asking why I came into work today and you might be wondering too.<\/p>\n \u201cBut the truth is, one he would have done the same and the other reason is that it is important. I\u2019m sure many of you have been in situations like this too and when you\u2019re working and when you\u2019re driving , you\u2019re sometimes happy, sometimes grieving, sometimes lost.<\/p>\n “I find, and I\u2019m sure you do too, that radio is a constant companion. Radio was his friend, I hope it\u2019s your friend. And it\u2019s thanks to him that it has always been my friend. And I hope today that it is my brother\u2019s friend, my sister\u2019s friend and his wife\u2019s friends too.
