Trinity secured their fifth victory in a row after a 34-0 dismantling of Castleford Tigers<\/a> in \u2018Rivals Round\u2019, and as a result has seen enough from some of his players to feel they are at international standard.<\/p>\nOf course, Wakefield already have two members of their squad currently in the England camp, with Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken both taking part in the Ashes series defeat to Australia in autumn.<\/p>\n
Now, Powell hopes that two more players can join them in the international side, despite the nation not actually having an appointed coach at this time.<\/p>\n
Jake Trueman is one of those men, and if he were to be selected would be making his full England debut. He featured for his country in the 9\u2019s tournament back in 2019, and was also part of the touring Great Britain squad the same year, however he didn\u2019t make an appearance in those games.<\/p>\n
The Wakefield boss believes that this season could be the one where Trueman earns his first international cap, after going under the radar in the early part of the campaign.<\/p>\n
I think he\u2019s a phenomenal player,\u201d Powell said to the press post-match. \u201cHe sees things that other players don\u2019t see.<\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes I try to open him up a little bit to express himself a little bit more\u00a0because he\u2019s potentially one of the best halves in the comp, potentially an international player.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me, this season I think he\u2019s turned into a winner, just wanting to win. The way he\u2019s carrying the ball and getting himself involved in everything really.\u00a0His kicking game is getting better consistently, thinking about putting the opposition under pressure.\u00a0I think he\u2019s a phenomenal player.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll he needs is to play consistently, which he is at the moment,\u00a0and have a team around him that can set the game up for him.\u00a0He\u2019s capable of anything.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026I think he is [good enough for a place in the World Cup squad], yeah. I think he\u2019s got to prove a few things.\u00a0We don\u2019t know who the coach is yet, so that\u2019s yet to be decided.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think for Truey, he has to show he\u2019s a winner,\u00a0because you need winners on the field at international level, you do\u00a0in Rugby League, but you need everybody needs to be a winner.\u00a0I feel like Truey is really growing into it.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe looks like he wants to win everything that he does at the moment.\u00a0I love that about him. I love how he\u2019s grown into that.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe amount of times he\u2019s carrying the ball.\u00a0Sometimes you\u2019re like, I probably wouldn\u2019t have carried that as a half-back there.\u00a0I just think he\u2019s getting himself involved and enjoying the physical side of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another man who could make the plane to Australia is prop Caleb Hamlin-Uele. Born in New Zealand, Hamlin-Uele qualifies for England on heritage, with his grandfather hailing from England.<\/p>\n
He has said previously he wouldn\u2019t mind putting his hand up and representing that heritage, something that Powell believes would be a huge boost for the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Caleb has got huge potential,\u201d the boss said. \u201cI think that\u2019s the best game he\u2019s played today.\u00a0He was awesome today, I thought.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s been a little bit of a slow burner going into this season,\u00a0missed a bit of pre-season,\u00a0but I think he looks like he\u2019s going to be huge from here on in.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s available, so whoever the coach is\u00a0has to make a call on whether they see him as being a part of that.\u00a0We\u2019re a little bit short on international front-rowers, aren\u2019t we?<\/p>\n
\u201cHe potentially is a decent option,\u00a0and he\u2019s said that\u2019s what he wants to do.\u00a0He\u2019d certainly be an option, I would say.\u201d<\/p>\n
