\"Breaking\t\tGloucester Rugby has asked fans for \u00a3300,000 to help it reach investment goals\t<\/p>\n

Fans of Prem Rugby club Gloucester have been asked to find \u00a3300,000 to help the team reach its investment goals.<\/p>\n

The club, eighth in the 10-team English top flight, announced an investment fund raise in October<\/a> that would embolden fans to generate \u00a3500,000 to \u201cprotect the future\u201d of the Cherry and Whites.<\/p>\n

Hosted by investment platform Europe Republic, Gloucester was valued at \u00a336.5m<\/a> ahead of the raise. And majority owner Martin St Quinton confirmed investors will become shareholders with full rights. A share will cost \u00a34.08.<\/p>\n

Six months on Gloucester emailed fans declaring that they had passed the \u00a3200,000 mark, stating that fans \u201ccan support our mission and be part of the journey by becoming a shareholder from \u00a3250\u201d.<\/p>\n

Exciting time for Gloucester<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a very exciting time for Premiership Rugby,\u201d St Quinton said in a video message to fans<\/a>. \u201cThe spectre of relegation is a big no-no for particularly American investors in the sport. Any investor doesn\u2019t want to be making an investment in a rugby club that a year later could potentially have been relegated, at which point you\u2019ve almost certainly lost your entire investment.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting rid of the spectre of relegation has given a huge amount of confidence to commercial acquirers and sports investors around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve seen the recent investment from Red Bull at Newcastle \u2013 they wouldn\u2019t have invested in Newcastle if there was any chance of Newcastle getting relegated \u2013 and [recently] the 50 per cent stake taken by [Sir James] Dyson in Bath Rugby, which is a fantastic endorsement of the future of Premiership Rugby.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not making any promises, but I think this is a very sound investment in Gloucester Rugby.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The funds will be used across the club\u2019s academy and facilities<\/a>, and has been dubbed \u201cA piece of Holm\u201d, a nod to the team\u2019s home ground Kingsholm.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t invest unless you\u2019re prepared to lose all the money you invest,\u201d a caption read. \u201cThis is a high risk investment and you\u2019re unlikely to be protected if something goes wrong\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2024, the Cherry and Whites added City fund manager Jack Ingles to an investor group that comprises majority owner Martin St Quinton and minority shareholder Tim Griffiths.<\/p>\n
