\n Dreaming the Earth opened at the venue on Victoria Road to an “overwhelmingly positive response”. According to its owner Anneley Pickles “there were large crowds attending the private view and a steady stream of visitors on the first public opening day”.\n<\/p>\n
\n The display marks what has been described as ‘another milestone in the ongoing renaissance of Victoria Road’. The Hatch, transformed from the former Forbers the Greengrocers into a thriving independent art space, continues to attract ‘significant artistic talent’ to Wirral.\n<\/p>\n

\n The gallery’s owner Anneley Pickles added: “We are so pleased to welcome Marcia and her incredible work.\n<\/p>\n
\n “There is such a mix of styles, from the beautiful and brooding to the playful and puppety, with inspirations ranging from Turner and Van Gogh, to Vermeer.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Marcia, who is from North Wales, added: “I\u2019m thrilled to share Dreaming the Earth at The Hatch Gallery.\n<\/p>\n
\n “This body of work explores the deep connection between memory, landscape and imagination, drawing on the rich artistic traditions that have inspired me while creating something that feels alive and contemporary.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It’s wonderful to see these pieces come together in such a vibrant elegant space.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n In Dreaming the Earth, her work is described as ‘rich in texture and atmosphere’, earthy, expressive, and often dramatic in tone, reflecting the raw beauty of the natural environments that influence her work.\n<\/p>\n
\n It brings together a body of work that showcases an ‘impressive breadth as an artist, drawing on a rich lineage of art-historical influences while retaining a distinctly contemporary voice, moving seamlessly from the pure to the puerile and back again’.\n<\/p>\n
\n It features waters crashing onto rocks and the steep climbs from valley to summit capturing something described as ‘incredibly powerful: a profound sense of place and space that resonates deeply with viewers standing just a short distance from those very landscapes’.\n<\/p>\n

\n With a professional career spanning almost three decades, Marcia began as a commercial mural artist, travelling across the UK and parts of Europe to complete large-scale mural commissions.\n<\/p>\n
\n Since graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 1993, she has developed a distinctive painting practice from her home studio, creating contemporary semi-abstract works inspired by the landscapes and dramatic coastline of North Wales.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Dreaming the Earth exhibition is open to the public at The Hatch Gallery each Friday and Saturday until 30 May 2026.
