{"id":517832,"date":"2026-04-07T15:31:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T15:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/517832\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T15:31:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T15:31:11","slug":"west-berkshire-council-launches-kerbside-recycling-for-plastic-tubes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/517832\/","title":{"rendered":"West Berkshire Council launches kerbside recycling for plastic tubes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Plastic tubes can now be recycled from home as part of regular collections, writes Kat Byrne.<\/p>\n<p>West Berkshire Council has partnered with Veolia to make the new addition to its kerbside recycling service.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"rthmb\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg xmlns=\" http:=\"\" viewbox=\"0 0 512 288\" data-root=\"\/_media\/img\/\" data-path=\"MGU6B4DQ356OXUK3K930.jpg\" data-ar=\"1.78\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Tubes, including all toothpaste tubes both hard and flexible, cosmetic tubes and food tubes can now be recycled.<\/p>\n<p>West Berkshire Council\u2019s executive member for environment and highways Stuart Gourley (Lib Dem, Newbury Clay Hill) said: \u201cThis is great news, another simple way to recycle more at home, and keep even more items out of the black bin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlastic tubes are something most of us use every day, so being able to pop them straight into the green recycling bag makes a real difference.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To recycle your tunes correctly, firstly squeeze the tube empty, leave the cap on and keep the tube flat (not rolled.)<\/p>\n<p>Then place it in the same container used to collect your plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, aerosols and cans.<\/p>\n<p>Veolia West Berkshire general manager David Matthews said: \u201cIn partnership with West Berkshire Council, we\u2019re committed to helping everyone recycle as much as possible and recycling plastic tubes is another positive step forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are some exceptions, such as if the tube is less than 40x40mm or if it has contained DIY products, such as mastic, that would be a contaminant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Plastic tubes can now be recycled from home as part of regular collections, writes Kat Byrne.
