Photographs have captured a fire in full rage this evening (Tuesday).<\/p>\n

A large and intense section of flame can also be seen.<\/p>\n
The blaze is understood to have happened at a recycling centre in Brunswick Road on the town\u2019s Cobbs Wood Industrial Estate. A total of 10 fire engines were needed to put it out.<\/p>\n
Local historian Steve Salter was passing the scene in a car with his partner.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
He told KentOnline: \u201cIt was very worrying. There was a thick plume of acrid black smoke. We kept the car windows shut to keep it away from us.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe could already see the fire engines rushing to the scene. This is clearly a very big fire that would take some time to put out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) tonight confirmed they had been called out just before 6pm.<\/p>\n
Apart from the mass of fire engines, a bulk water carrier and height vehicle were also needed. Fire crews used breathing apparatus as they took on the flames,<\/p>\n
The fire continued to be fought at 8.30pm.<\/p>\n
A KFRS spokesperson then said: \u201cPeople living near Brunswick Road in Ashford are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke coming from a fire at an industrial waste site.<\/p>\n
\u201cTen fire engines, a height vehicle and a bulk water carrier are at the scene, and crews are working to extinguish the fire.<\/p>\n
