\n\tThe move reunites Schreier, Lee and Calo after last year\u2019s \u201cThunderbolts,*\u201d where the trio proved their comic book chops \u2014 though the film was more a critical than a commercial hit.<\/p>\n

\n\tSeveral other scribes have tried to crack the code on the X-Men. Previously, Michael Lesslie (\u201cThe Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,\u201d \u201cNow You See Me, Now You Don\u2019t\u201d) wrote a screenplay for the film, revising an earlier draft by Aaron Rabin (\u201cTom Clancy\u2019s Jack Ryan\u201d) and Zach Dean (\u201cThe Tomorrow War,\u201d \u201cFast X\u201d).<\/p>\n
\n\tLast month, Lesslie signed on to draft the latest version of \u201cFast Forever,\u201d which is expected to drive the long-running \u201cFast & Furious\u201d franchise into the sunset. He took over for, wait for it, Rabin and Dean.<\/p>\n
\n\tChristina Hodson (\u201cThe Flash,\u201d \u201cBumblebee\u201d) and Oren Uziel (\u201cThe Lost City,\u201d \u201c22 Jump Street\u201d) were first tapped to write the \u201cFast Forever\u201d screenplay. It\u2019s a sign of how many creatives are tinkering under the hood on huge studio tentpole films. <\/p>\n
\n\tSchreier\u2019s \u201cX-Men\u201d is significant as it marks the mutants\u2019 solo debut n a Marvel Studios-produced movie. Marvel now oversees the creative direction of the characters following Disney\u2019s 2019 purchase of much of 21st Century Fox\u2019s entertainment assets. The company had previously licensed the X-Men and Fox made more than a dozen films with them, ranging from \u201cLogan\u201d to \u201cDeadpool,\u201d with a little \u201cX-Men: Apocalypse\u201d thrown in. The less said about \u201cThe New Mutants,\u201d the better.<\/p>\n
\n\tMany of the characters from the early aughts X-Men movies, such as Patrick Stewart\u2019s Professor Xavier, Ian McKellen\u2019s Magneto, Kelsey Grammer\u2019s Beast and James Marsden\u2019s Cyclops, will appear in the upcoming \u201cAvengers: Doomsday.\u201d Following that team-up, a new (younger) group of X-Men are expected to take their place in the MCU with Schreier\u2019s film.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The writers behind two of the most binge-able TV series are taking on Marvel\u2019s most famous mutants.
