While he may be disappointed that it didn\u2019t happen, don\u2019t expect filmmaker Steven Soderbergh to keep pursuing his rejected \u201cThe Hunt for Ben Solo\u201d film.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, Soderbergh, actor Adam Driver and writer Rebecca Blunt teamed up to develop a film that would\u2019ve taken place after the events of \u201cStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker\u201d and follow Driver\u2019s Ben Solo\/Kylo Ren. The trio spent around two and a half years doing some work on it.<\/p>\n

However, it was revealed last year that Disney\u2019s top brass (namely Bob Iger and Alan Bergman) rejected it despite everyone at Lucasfilm (including Kathleen Kennedy) being pleased with the project.<\/p>\n

Since the cancelled movie was revealed, fans have been rallying to convince the studio to reconsider moving forward with the project, but there\u2019s been no movement even as Disney and Lucasfilm have seen executive regime changes.<\/p>\n

Now, speaking with The Playlist<\/a> this week while out promoting \u201cThe Christophers,\u201d Soderbergh was asked if he was interested in pursuing the project any further, to which he replied a simple \u201cnope.\u201d He also revealed that Driver was the driving force behind the project:<\/p>\n

\u201cAdam and I started talking, and this would have been almost three years ago now. It was strictly Adam saying, \u2018I think there\u2019s still somewhere to go with this character.\u2019 That\u2019s how it started. Otherwise, I never in a million years would have found myself in that universe again.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t regret one minute of the time we spent working on that. I felt the work was good. It\u2019s just good for you to be in that room and working on it. It\u2019s like CrossFit\u2014it\u2019s good for you. It\u2019ll have a residual effect that will be unexpected at some point.<\/p>\n

As soon as it became apparent, OK, not gonna happen, I sat down and started writing [something else]. It\u2019s like, \u2018OK, new scenario, let\u2019s get cracking.\u2019 At a certain point, it\u2019s like complaining about the weather. You just gotta keep moving\u2026 Look, if it was gonna happen, it would have happened. It\u2019s that simple.\u201d<\/p>\n
