Teddie Lamb has caught the attention for Manchester City Under-18s this season<\/p>\n

Teddie Lamb says scoring goals makes him happy. He must be absolutely euphoric these days.<\/p>\n

The 16-year-old scoring sensation has eight goals in seven Under-18 Premier League<\/a> games since the turn of the year, adding one more in two showings for England Under-17s during the international break. Throw in the FA Youth Cup – where he’s come off the bench for two substitute appearances totalling just 36 minutes to score once – and it’s 10 goals in 11 games for club and country in 2026.<\/p>\n

And this is a player who missed the first six weeks of the calendar year with an injury, returning against Wolves in mid-February, when he hit a hat-trick.<\/p>\n

“Scoring goals keeps me motivated to do more,” he said after that victory. “The squad this year is unbelievable, in training it is always a high standard. We are all helping each other and getting along with each other. Scoring goals makes me happy!”<\/p>\n

It’s not just Lamb who is happy either. City’s Under-18s are top of the league table as they bid to see off Manchester United<\/a> and take the crown, while on Friday they face Blackburn Rovers in the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup. United could await in the final.<\/p>\n

City Academy chief Oli Reiss has overseen a fine season and in Lamb he has a player who stands out given he’s two years younger than many of his teammates. His goal record speaks for itself – even Erling Haaland can’t match his numbers in 2026 despite a hat-trick against Liverpool<\/a> last time out.<\/p>\n

Lamb came off the bench against Everton in the Youth Cup quarter-final last month and quickly found the net. He has been touted as one to watch and while his goals grab the headlines, his all-round ability to hold up the ball and link play is also catching the eye. But for Reiss, the key attribute is away from the pitch.<\/p>\n

“He is one of the best players in terms of mentality that I have ever seen,” said Reiss, speaking to the Manchester Evening News. “A proper striker, I like him and he has a huge quality and potential and a big future I think.”<\/p>\n

The immediate future for Lamb will be Friday’s last four Youth Cup tie with Blackburn at the Joie Stadium. He’ll hope to play his part in sending City to a third straight final as they bid to avenge last season’s defeat to Aston Villa.<\/p>\n

The wider picture for the starlet, who arrived last summer from Leyton Orient, will be to progress through the academy ranks at the Etihad. He’s inspiration aplenty with Phil Foden, Nico O’Reilly and Rico Lewis all first-team squad regulars.<\/p>\n
