Aubrey Plaza<\/a> and her partner are expecting their first child together. The happy news for Aubrey and her partner, Christopher Abbott, comes over a year after the death of her late husband, Jeff Baena<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A source has confirmed that Aubrey and Christopher’s firstborn is due in the fall. However, the gender of their child is yet to be disclosed. The happy news comes just over a year after Aubrey suffered utter heartbreak following the death of her husband, Jeff.<\/p>\n

Aubrey and Christopher first worked together in 2019 on the psychological drama Black Bear. A source said the news of their pregnancy<\/a> came as a “beautiful surprise” for the couple.<\/p>\n

“It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,” a source told People magazine<\/a>. They added: “They feel very blessed.” Aubrey and Christopher went on to work together again three years ago, in the Off-Broadway revival of John Patrick Shanley’s Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, which ran through til January 2024.<\/p>\n

While their relationship has been relatively low-key, the couple were spotted together on Valentine’s Day<\/a> this year, attending Khaite’s Fall\/Winter 2026 New York Fashion Week show, sitting alongside Gemma Chan and Elizabeth Debicki.<\/p>\n

They were also seen looking cosy at the Chatham Berry Farm, around two and a half hours outside of New York, in June of last year. Just weeks after she and Christopher were spotted, Aubrey opened up about the death of her late husband, Jeff.<\/p>\n

The filmmaker died in January<\/a> 2025 at the age of 47, with the Los Angeles County medical examiner concluding he took his own life. The director and screenwriter was found at a home close to the Fern Dell Nature Trail near the Hollywood Hills, with the cause of his death determined as hanging.<\/p>\n

Aubrey released a statement with Jeff’s family when his death was confirmed in January, but her admission about grief was the first time she spoke publicly about losing Jeff.<\/p>\n

Speaking on her Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler’s podcast, Aubrey said: “Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you. Overall, I’m here, and I’m functioning. I feel really grateful to be moving through the world<\/a>. I think I’m ok, but it\u2019s like a daily struggle, obviously.”<\/p>\n

She added on the podcast: “This is a really dumb analogy, and it was kind of a joke at a certain point, but I actually mean it. Did you see that movie The Gorge? \u2026 In the movie, there’s a cliff on one side and there’s a cliff on the other side, then there’s a gorge in between and it’s filled with all these monster people that are trying to get them.<\/p>\n

“I swear, when I watched it, I was like that feels like what my grief is like \u2026 or what grief could be like. At all times, there\u2019s like a giant ocean of awfulness that’s right there, and I can see it. Sometimes I just want to dive into it, and just like be in it. Then sometimes I just look at it, and sometimes I try to get away from it. But, it’s always there.”<\/p>\n

Aubrey and Jeff has seperated four months before he tragically died.<\/p>\n
