{"id":519855,"date":"2026-04-08T16:38:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T16:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/519855\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T16:38:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T16:38:14","slug":"murder-arrest-over-2004-death-of-leeds-businessman-john-luper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/519855\/","title":{"rendered":"Murder arrest over 2004 death of Leeds businessman John Luper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Police said Luper was attacked by a group of masked intruders as he walked his dog near a neighbour&#8217;s driveway at about 23:30.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He was then dragged back to his home where the thieves used duct tape to tie up his wife and daughter and their au pair in an upstairs room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The thieves took cash and jewellery worth about \u00a3100,000, including a rare Cartier watch, and escaped from the Lupers&#8217; home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Luper was later found by his wife and daughter in a downstairs room after they managed to free themselves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Police were called but despite attempts to resuscitate him he was pronounced dead at the scene.
