Newcastle Labour Club has announced that they have ceased trading. The popular social club was located on Leazes Park Road in the city centre, close to St James’ Park<\/a>, for decades.<\/p>\n

Just under a year ago, the club<\/a> moved to the site of the former Lloyd\u2019s Bank near Haymarket Metro. They reopened the venue with a brand new sports bar and a function room with capacity for 300 people.<\/p>\n

The club has now announced that they ceased trading all together “due to circumstances beyond their control”. They released a post on Facebook on Wednesday in which they informed customers about the sudden closure.<\/p>\n

In the post, the secretory said: “Due to circumstances beyond our control unfortunately Newcastle Labour<\/a> Club has today of Wednesday 8th April ceased trading and will no longer be open, any future bookings that have paid deposits for functions please email us at Newcastlelabourclub2023@gmail.com so we can have these returned as soon as possible, unfortunately this was NOT our choice and was the last resort, for any further queries please use the same email as above where we will try our best to answer them for you”.<\/p>\n

Newcastle Labour Club, which opened in the 1970s, attracted plenty of people due to it’s budget friendly drink prices and lively atmosphere. A number of customers have expressed their shock and sadness after hearing the news.<\/p>\n

One person has described the venue as a “great little club” while others said it was a “lovely club” and a “great place”. One person commented: “Wow what a shock, was in Saturday, the Labour club has been in town for soo many years”.<\/p>\n

Another person said: “Such a shame after all the years in your original venue. You move then you close not long after. Good luck to all the staff.” A third person posted: “That’s a real shame hope you able to find a way to reopen in future”.<\/p>\n

A fourth person said: “Sad and shocking after recently moving. Sad times the Labour club has been in the town as long as, I can remember. Gutted for the staff and members.” A fifth added: “Sad times…all the best to the staff for the future”.<\/p>\n
