A mother has told how her 14-month-old daughter is suffering from a mystery illness.<\/p>\n
Yasmin Whittington’s daughter Elyza has been experiencing sickness, poor feeding, low muscle tone and chronic fatigue.<\/p>\n
Elyza first appeared unwell at two months old and has since spent months in hospital.<\/p>\n
She had undergone multiple tests to try to find out what her condition is – but doctors do not know what is causing her symptoms.<\/p>\n
Ms Whittington said she has had to give up work to care for her daughter.<\/p>\n

I knew something wasn\u2019t right.<\/p>\n “Her muscle tone was almost non-existent, and she would sleep around 21 hours a day.<\/p>\n “She just wasn\u2019t developing the way she should. Almost a year on we\u2019re still waiting for a diagnosis.<\/p>\n Yasmin Whittington with her husband Charles and their daughter Elyza<\/p>\n “Elyza\u2019s been in hospital for more than three months of her life and it\u2019s still something doctors are working hard to understand. It\u2019s been very tough on all of us.”<\/p>\n The mum added: “Elyza\u2019s only just started sitting and she can\u2019t feed orally.<\/p>\n “She\u2019s fed through a tube and struggles to gain weight. Development-wise she\u2019s closer to a five or six-month-old.<\/p>\n “Doctors are trying to figure out the best way forward.<\/p>\n “I\u2019ve gone from mum to nurse quite quickly, I live and breathe everything about her care now.
