A man has died after a tragic incident shut the M60<\/a> throughout Wednesday morning (April 8). Emergency crews, including police, fire crews and paramedics were called to an incident on the anti-clockwise carriageway, with a major response causing traffic delays.<\/p>\n Police had been called to a concern for welfare incident involving a man at Barton<\/a> Bridge. All traffic was held as a full motorway closure was put in place.<\/p>\n Greater Manchester Police<\/a> warned drivers to avoid the area where possible due to delays. A police statement read: “We are currently dealing with a police incident on the M60 at Barton Bridge. The closure was put in place between junctions 11 at Eccles and 10 at the Trafford Centre, causing major delays throughout the morning.<\/p>\n His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers. No further details have been released at this time but there are no suspicious circumstances involved.<\/p>\n National Highways travel alerts said delays were lasting for at least one hour throughout the morning. Seven miles of congestion was backed up to Junction 17 for Whitefield.
