Whether it be The Transporter, The Expendables, Crank, Wrath of Man, or The Beekeeper, when you think of Jason Statham, you think of thrilling action pictures. While his breakout roles came from collaborating with Guy Ritchie in crime films like Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, audiences just can’t ever seem to get enough<\/a> of watching Statham take on bad guys in all shapes and forms. However, rather than devoting his life to acting, Statham lived another life prior to movies as a swimmer, as he was a member of Great Britain’s National Swimming Squad for 12 years.<\/p>\n

Given his aquatic abilities, the upcoming movie Mutiny<\/a> might bring together every single one of Statham’s talents for a pulse-pounding adventure. Much like in his previous thrillers, Statham plays a man who possesses a unique set of skills, many of which center around killing anyone in his way. A new poster for the upcoming movie has been released, which you can see below:<\/p>\n

If this new poster isn’t enough to tide you over<\/a>, then fret not, as the first trailer for the movie is set to debut this week. Peaky Blinders and Malignant star Annabelle Wallis joins Statham in the picture.<\/p>\n

The new movie comes from filmmaker Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Richet, who previously helmed the 2005 remake of John Carpenter’s Assault on Precinct 13, and also delivered the two-part Mesrine starring Vincent Cassel, which scored critical acclaim. What American audiences might be most familiar with, though, is Richet’s 2023 actioner Plane, which stars Gerard Butler and Mike Colter. Similar to the events of Assault on Precinct 13, the movie saw survivors overlooking legal discrepancies, as a pilot partners with a suspected murderer to overcome an intense ordeal. The movie might not have been a blockbuster upon its release, but it earned a strong enough cult following to earn the upcoming sequel Ship, which Richet is also attached to.<\/p>\n

Mutiny isn’t the first time that we’ve seen Statham take to the high seas<\/a>, as he dove headfirst into terror for 2018’s The Meg, in which he faced off against a massive Megalodon that emerged from a deep, underwater chasm. With that movie going on to earn the impressive $529 million at the worldwide box office, and with the concept being based on a book series by Steve Alten, Statham returned to adapt a different entry in the series. Even though Meg 2: The Trench only scored 27% positive reviews on aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, it was another financial success, scoring $398.5 million.<\/p>\n

We don’t know quite yet if Mutiny will be as profitable as Statham taking on sharks, but there’s a clear precedent of audiences being interested in watching the actor on the open ocean.<\/p>\n
