Hollyoaks icon Gemma Bissix has addressed whether Clare Devine<\/a> is really dead following her confrontation with Sienna Blake. The soap villain returned to our screens<\/a> earlier this month in dramatic fashion, after staging an elaborate escape from prison.<\/p>\n

Upon her return to the village, Clare wasted no time in blackmailing Donny Clark as well as stealing Sienna’s car, with Tori and baby Joseph inside. Tori managed to send their location to Sienna and Warren Fox, who were in pursuit of the car.<\/p>\n

This led to a clifftop showdown between Sienna and Clare<\/a>, with the altercation ending with Sienna pushing Clare off the edge and into the water below. But as this is soapland, there is every chance that the iconic soap character survived the fall.<\/p>\n

It would not be the first time that Clare has been seemingly killed on-screen and presumed deceased either, with Bissix addressing whether she believes this is really it for her villainous character on the Channel 4 soap.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Mirror<\/a>, the actor said: “I’m just back for a short stint, and the stuff that she gets up to in three episodes is absolutely outrageous. That’s what I love about Hollyoaks, that it’s just heightened drama.” <\/p>\n

“Clare gets under Sienna’s skin so badly that she ends up pushing Clare off the cliff, and that’s it. But we look down to the water, and Clare is nowhere to be seen. As we have discovered in previous years, she’s a fantastic swimmer, isn’t she?” she teased.<\/p>\n

Bissix, who first portrayed Clare in 2006, also praised co-star Anna Passey for her performance as Sienna. With Sienna having a shady past too, Bissix remarked how Passey was able to bring out the character’s torn feelings.<\/p>\n

“It’s brilliant because it is just so Clare,” she said. “She’s trying to goad Sienna by saying ‘you were much more interesting when you were killing people’. <\/p>\n

“I saw it with Anna with her acting – there’s parts of me that think Sienna’s going to start becoming a bit more like the old Sienna.” <\/p>\n

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming<\/a> premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.<\/p>\n
