\n\tPhilomena Cunk is back and, almost certainly, no less stupid. <\/p>\n
\n\tThe British comic character, created by Diane Morgan<\/a> (who plays Cunk) and Charlie Brooker<\/a> and known for her deadpan style and ill-informed questions as host of several satirical documentaries, is returning for another mockumentary series, this time examining the world\u2019s love affair with movies, Variety can reveal.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cCunk on Cinema\u201d \u2014\u00a0which follows \u201cCunk on Britain,\u201d \u201cCunk on Earth\u201d and \u201cCunk on Life\u201d \u2014\u00a0is billed as a her \u201cmost glamorous series to date.\u201d The three-part series, now in production, will air on the BBC<\/a> and Netflix<\/a> globally outside the U.K. and Ireland. <\/p>\n \n\tMade by\u00a0Pacesetter Productions, \u201cCunk on Cinema\u201d will follow Philomena as she asks experts about the history of cinema, from the invention of the camera, to the New Wave filmmakers of the 60s, right up to entrance of CGI and what the future of AI holds.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tAs per the description, \u201cCunk\u00a0will\u00a0attempt\u00a0to demystify it all while sitting in lumpy seats with stale popcorn, asking herself where did cinema come from? And why? What does it want? And why can\u2019t it tell us?\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cCinema has given the world some of the most profound, memorable and moving visual moments in its unswerving depiction of the human condition: the shower scene in \u2018Psycho,\u2019 Death playing chess in that Swedish thing, and Tom Selleck\u2019s glistening moustache in \u2018Three Men And A Little Lady,\u2019 to name but all three of the only examples I can think of at the moment,\u201d said Cunk. \u201cThere will, unfortunately, be some bits in black and white, but we\u2019ll keep that to the barest minimum.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tAdded\u00a0Brooker:\u00a0\u201cNow that Sora has killed off Hollywood and itself (presumably as part of a murder-suicide pact), it\u2019s the perfect time to look back at two hundred centuries of cinema, in the company of an idiot we\u2019re apparently cursed to employ: Philomena\u00a0Cunk.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tJon Petrie, director of comedy at the BBC\u00a0said: \u201cPhilomena\u00a0Cunk\u00a0is back!
